Restrictions placed on West End district judge

Monroe President Judge Margherita Patti-Worthington issued an administrative order that Magistrate District Judge Colleen Mancuso may no longer process any search warrants, arrest warrants and preliminary arraignments brought before Magisterial District 43-3-04.

Worthington ruled there is conflict of interest because Colleen Mancuso is the wife of newly elected Monroe County District Attorney Michael Mancuso. This district office hears cases in Chestnuthill Township, Eldred Township, Polk Township, Ross Township.

Effective Dec. 28, Worthington said cases will require a temporary, emergency magisterial judge to be processed.

Robert Butler, Chairman of the Monroe County Republican Party commented in a news release Monday. “Considering a major portion of the work cannot be carried out by MDJ Mancuso, this district would be best served by her resignation and the process of selection for a full-time magistrate begin. Especially since she continues to collect the full $110,000 salary while only fulfilling a small portion of the responsibilities.”

Colleen Mancuso has not returned messages for comment.
