Police ID suspect in Dec. robbery

Nesquehoning police are making progress on a robbery that happened in the borough last month.

On Wednesday, police Chief Michael Weaver reported to borough council that through the help of the public and Pennsylvania State Police, officers have positively identified one of the three suspects involved in robbing the Fuel Up station at 701 E. Catawissa St.

The theft happened just after 9 p.m. on Dec. 28. At the time three men entered the business and used a key to access the gaming machines. They removed money and then went to the register and took two money bags before fleeing in a red Chevrolet SUV.

Weaver said the case is still being investigated so he would not release a name, but said that the man is from the Philadelphia area.
