LIHEAP helps

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps low-income families pay their heating bills the MCAAA newsletter shares.

LIHEAP is a grant. It does not have to be re-paid, but one must apply before April 5.

FHC Parent meeting

Parents of all children receiving their First Holy Communion on April 28 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church are reminded that there will be a meeting from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

The meeting will take place in the main body of the church.

161st annual meeting

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will hold its 161st annual congregational meeting this Sunday. Because of that and a potluck luncheon that follows, there will only be one worship service at 10 a.m.

The monthly Community Sunday Supper at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday.

A.A. meeting

McMichaels UMC continues to host A.A. meetings at the church every Wednesday at noon and Saturday evening at 6:30. There is no charge for the class. All meetings are confidential.

Open Bingo Night

The American Legion in Gilbert is hosting another open to the public Bingo Night on Monday.

Card sales begin at 6:30 p.m. and play begins at 7 p.m.

Treasurer needed

Effort UMC has learned its church treasurer will be moving on at the end of March.

Registration due

Feb. 1 is the deadline for registering for the Fun Science Saturday coming to Chestnuthill Township from 9 a.m. to noon, Feb. 17.

Among the activities are learning about the science of magic, movie effects, and toys, and there is much more, including the science of birds and a twist of the wrist sets a yo-yo spinning.

Saturday, Feb. 3 is Take Your Child to the Library Day. The Western Pocono Community Library will be having a special Story Time at 10 a.m.

Block shoot Feb. 4

Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club will hold its next block shoot and meat raffle at the Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club at 122 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg, on Feb. 4, beginning at 11 a.m.

It is a 12-gauge shotgun event only.

Souper Bowl going on now

Effort UMC is again holding its Souper Bowl as hosted by the church’s Mission Team and Supplemental Food Resource Center.

There will be pots in the church narthex for donations of canned goods such as canned fruit, canned pasta, canned vegetables, canned sauces, etc. and non-perishables tied into the Super Bowl teams.

Each soup pot will have a team name so folks can vote for the person’s favorite by placing said donation in that particular pot. Donations are requested to be in by Sunday, Feb. 11.

C’hill Historical

The next meeting of the Chestnuthill Historical group is set for March 20. There will be a speaker. More information will follow.
