Two Carbon bus route changes start Monday

Residents who utilize Carbon Transit will see changes to some routes beginning next week.

LANTA, which manages Carbon Transit, announced Wednesday that effective Monday, riders will see changes to routes in Lansford and Lehighton, as well as updates to technology, Senior IDs and fares.

AJ Jordan, Director of Planning and Scheduling at LANTA, said in a release that the buses will now have “real-time bus tracking and fare-paying capabilities” using several different apps. These apps, available on both Apple and Android devices, include Transit, MyStop, and Google Maps.

In addition, if a senior has a Pennsylvania Senior ID card, they can ride the CT Bus and CT Flex for free. Seniors can obtain more information on these cards at https://lantabus.com/lanta-senior-citizen-id-card.

Jordan reminds riders that the CT Bus, which runs two fixed routes in the county, will only board riders at established bus stops, eliminating pickup by flagging down a bus driver.

Information on the changes to Lansford and Lehighton routes, which now will include service to Lehigh Valley Health Network in Lehighton can be viewed at www.carbontransit.com.
