State police at Frackville report on crashes

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following:

• Samuel S. Degiglio, 54, of Summit Hill, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle crash at 7:47 a.m. Jan. 16 on Interstate 81 in Kline Township.

Police said he was driving a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus northbound when it began to spin and was struck head-on by a 2011 Toyota 4Runner driven northbound by Bryan C. McDonald, 41, of Tunkhannock.

Police said both drivers escaped injuries. Clarissa L. McDonald, 42, also of Tunkhannock, who was a passenger in the 4Runner, sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

The vehicles were drivable from the scene, police said.

• Milciad Corporan Moreno, 54, of Mahanoy City, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed following a one-vehicle crash at 5:35 a.m. Jan. 16. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Infiniti southbound when he lost control of the vehicle. It traveled into the median and struck a guide rail on the west side of the interstate.

• Carlo V. Quattrone Jr., 64, of Barnesville, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:57 p.m. Jan. 21 on Fairview Street in Rush Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Tamaqua Community Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. The severity of his injuries in unknown.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Hyundai that he lost control of due to snow that drifted onto the roadway. The car “fishtailed” off the road, struck a Pennsylvania Power and Light Company utility pole with its front bumper, spun 180 degrees and traveled off the roadway.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

• Jordan T. Scott, 31, of MaryD, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 4:35 a.m. Jan. 16 on Catawissa Road in Walker Township.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban south when he lost control of the vehicle in a curve due to snow on the roadway. The vehicle traveled through the northbound lane and went off the east side of the road, striking a tree.

The vehicle had disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
