Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported on crashes that happened on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Three vehicles were damaged because of rocks laying in the travel lanes near mile marker 67.7 in Washington Township.

They included a 2020 Dodge Durango driven by Amy E. Cosentino, 56, of Coopersburg, a 2020 Lexus operated by Anthony M. Urbano, 68, of Bethlehem, and a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by Franco J. Sangronis, 26, of Williamsport.

Police said Cosentino encountered and struck a large rock and other assorted rocks in the right lane when she was traveling southbound. Several of the rocks were kicked up and struck the front of the Lexus while others struck the side of the Elantra.

No one was injured.

• Rynell R. Brooks-Brown, 20, of Williamsport, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at mile marker 84 in Penn Forest Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion northbound when he lost control of the car and it struck a snow-covered embankment, causing disabling damages.

• David M. Ranakoski, 29, of Covington Township, was cited for careless driving after a two-vehicle crash at 7:55 a.m. Jan. 5 at mile marker 74.5 in Parryville borough.

Police said he was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram truck involved in a crash with a 219 Ford F150 driven by Todd J. Fredericks, 51, of Lehighton. Both drivers escaped injuries.

• Bashar Kassis, 26, of Whitehall, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 1:16 p.m. Jan. 16. He was uninjured.

It happened at mile marker 92.6 in Kidder Township. Police said he was driving a 2016 Lincoln northbound when he lost control of it on the slush-covered roadway. The car struck a concrete barrier.

• Kelly A. Gilmore, 22, of Colmar, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle crash at 9:55 a.m. Jan. 16. No one was injured in the incident.

It happened at mile marker 78.5 in Franklin Township.

Gilmore was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla while the other driver was Joseph B. Dowdell, 49, of Lockbourne, Ohio, who was operating a 2019 Volvo.

Police did not provide any other details of the incident.

• Police were summoned to a crash at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 16 at mile marker 77.8 in Franklin Township. No one was hurt in the incident.

They said Kenneth J. Bailey, 35, of Harrisburg, was driving a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia southbound when it struck a 2019 Mazda driven by Michelle A. Krugel, 52, of Hanover Township, that was sitting disabled in the left lane from an earlier crash.

They said Krugel lost control of the Mazda on the slush-covered roadway. It struck a guide rail and concrete barrier.
