A modular home in Lehigh Township was destroyed after a fire broke out Sunday afternoon.
Lehigh Township Fire Commissioner Rick Hildebrand said the dispatch call came in at 12:48 p.m. for a fire at 4180 Heritage Lane, also known as Heritage Village.
“Upon phone calls to 911, the house was well involved,” Hildebrand said. “There were injuries reported at the scene, with one person laying on the ground.”
Hildebrand said two residents who were home at the time of the fire were injured and taken to the hospital.
Additionally, he said two firefighters suffered injuries that were treated and released.
Hildebrand said there were two dogs that perished in the fire.
“The fire crews attacked the fire, but with it being well advanced, it took a while to get it under control,” he said. “It was in the attic, underneath the floors.”
Hildebrand said it required “an aggressive approach” to fight the fire, which was under control at 2:19 p.m.
He said firefighters cleared the scene at 3:52 p.m., and that the home was a total loss.
Hildebrand said the cause of the fire is under investigation by local fire marshals.
He said multiple fire companies from surrounding counties assisted on scene.
