State police at Fern Ridge
State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following incidents:
• Police were summoned to a theft incident at 9:10 p.m. Dec. 7 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.
Police said the victim reported someone stole a Skypad 10 valued at $150.
• A 60-year-old Effort man is facing charges of simple assault and harassment after police were called to a domestic incident at 2:40 p.m. Jan. 6 at a property in the 500 block of Shane Drive in Chestnuthill Township. A14-year-old girl, was struck in the face by the man, resulting in visible injuries.
Police said the juvenile was removed from the residence and did not require medical attention.
• Police were called to a theft by deception/wire fraud incident at a property on Parkside Avenue, Tobyhanna. A 63-year-old Albrightsville man reported he had formed an online relationship with a person he believed to be a woman. The victim told police he was contacted by a “doctor” at an unnamed hospital who requested money from the victim to pay for inquires of the woman the victim had met online. Police said the victim refused to pay the “doctor” and reported the incident.
Police issued a reminder to the public that online relationships often lead to these types of online scams requesting money from the victim for acts or events that never transported.
• Police said they are investigating a firearms violation that they were called to at 4:08 p.m. Dec. 6.
It happened on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
• Michael Lemelin, 42, of Albrightsville, was cited by police for harassment by physical contact after they were called to a dispute at 11:41 a.m. Jan. 2 at Nathan Way and Johnson Lane in Penn Forest Township.
A 29-year-old woman from Albrightsville who told police she and her boyfriend were involved in an argument that became physical when he pushed her hard enough that she fell against the wall in their living room.
* Debra Hague, 65, of Effort, and David Hague, 63, of Sun City West, Arizona, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police were called to a domestic dispute at 6:57 a.m. Dec. 31 at 164 Pioneer Lane, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said they engaged in a physical altercation.
• A 63-year-old Albrightsville man is the victim of a theft by deception theft that police are investigating.
They were summoned at 12:55 a.m. Dec. 10 to a property on Lenape Trail, Penn Forest Township, where the victim told them he was told a friend was kidnapped and $800 was needed to secure her freedom.
• Police were summoned at 3L04 p.m. Dec. 4 to a property on Parkside Avenue, Tobyhanna Township, to investigate a ChildLine report.
Police said the report presented concerns about physical abuse (sex) involving a 17-year-old girl from Kunkletown.
