Palmerton Police log

Palmerton Police Department responded to 292 calls in November and December. The following were charged:

• Alexander Lureen, 28, Allentown, one count of unsworn falsification to authorities resulting from an attempted firearms purchase, on June 24, 2022, in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue. PPD was assisted with the investigation by the PSP Firearms Division.

• Joseph Slovick, 47, Palmerton, one count each of recklessly endangering another person and persistent disorderly conduct, on July 20 in the 900 block of Princeton Avenue.

• Scott Haydt, 29, Nesquehoning, two counts of harassment by communication, on Oct. 16 in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue.

• Garry Smith, 65, Palmerton, two counts of DUI-alcohol, on Oct. 17 in the 1100 block of Mauch Chunk Road.

• Violet Hauze, 31, Palmerton, one count each of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, identity theft, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, on Nov. 6 in the 500 block of Delaware Avenue.

• David Figueroa, 19, Palmerton, one count each of possession of a weapon on school property, trespassing, disorderly conduct, and use of tobacco on school property, on Nov. 29 in the area of Fifth Street and Harvard Avenue.

• Gavin Oplinger, 59, Palmerton, one count each of recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and harassment by physical contact, on Dec. 16 in the 700 block of First Street.

Other incidents

• In addition, Palmerton Police filed nine non-traffic citations: seven for unpaid parking tickets, and two for disorderly conduct.

• Palmerton Police issued 40 traffic violation warnings and 39 traffic citations: 13 for expired inspection, nine for speeding, five for obedience to traffic control devices, three for driving under suspension, two for maximum gross weight of vehicles, two for investigation by police officer, and one each for expired registration, turn signals, general lighting requirements, permitting violation of title, and blocking a fire hydrant.
