It was a memorable night for both Jim Barron and Matt Machalik on Monday.
Barron, the head coach for the Tamaqua boys basketball team, gained his 100th career win while Palmerton senior Machalik poured in 45 points during a victory over Palisades.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Notre Dame ES-Tamaqua
Tamaqua rallied in the fourth quarter to give head coach Jim Barron his 100th career win with the Blue Raiders.
Barron’s club outscored Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg by 13 points in the final frame to overcome a double-digit deficit and gain a 76-74 victory.
Noah Mateyak paced Tamaqua with 23 points, including five three-pointers. Connor Dillon added 21 points, while Cooper Ansbach contributed 14. The Raiders, who improved to 8-7, also received 11 points from Luke Kane.
For the Spartans, now 7-2, Xavier Spears poured in a game-high 37 points.

Palmerton-Palisades
Palmerton’s Matt Machalik exploded for 45 points to power Palmerton to an 88-63 Colonial League victory over Palisades.
Machalik collected 18 field goals in the contest, and registered all of his points through the game’s first three quarters.
The Blue Bombers, who used a 35-14 third quarter to pull away from the Pirates, also received 22 points from Brayden Hosier - who gained a majority of his points on six three-pointers.
Riley Sessinger tallied a team-high 25 points for Palisades, who fell to 2-11 overall and 1-9 in the league.
Palmerton improved to 9-4 and 9-1.

Northwestern won its fourth straight game by posting a 63-48 Colonial League victory over Bangor.
The Tigers’ Gavin Nelson scored a game-high 18 points, which included an 8-of-8 effort at the foul line.
Shane Marth contributed 16 points to the win, while Eli Zimmerman chipped in with 10.
For the Slaters, Meysun Cruciani gained a team-high 14 points.
Northwestern upped its record to 10-4 overall and 8-2 in the league. Bangor slipped to 7-6 and 7-3.

Britton hit five three-pointers in the contest to help the Tigers improve to 7-3.
The Colts received a team-high 15 points from Julius Currie, who recorded all of his points from three-point range. Jacob Miller also tossed in 10 points for Marian, which slipped to 8-7.

Five players scored in double figures for the Hurricanes, with Logan Carl leading the way with 22 points.
The Wreckers received a team-high 17 points from Corbin Wagner, while Ian McKeegan was close behind with 16.
Weatherly dropped to 2-11 overall and 1-6 in the league. Haven is now 14-1 and 7-1.

The Panther Valley girls’ wrestling team took part in the Mattness at the MACC in Montgomery.
Brenda Banks led the way for the Panthers as she captured the 235-pound individual title with a 4-0 mark that included four pins.
Anelia Bennick (155) and Alisa Williams (170) both went 4-1 with three pins to earn second-place finishes. Kyla McQuillen added a fourth-place finish at 148-pounds, as she went 3-2 with two pins.
Central Dauphin captured the team title. Panther Valley finished fourth.
