Thousands without power because of high winds

Several thousands people were without power Sunday afternoon because of winds throughout the area. A wind advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. with gusts of up to 50 mph expected. Snow is expected Monday night into Tuesday, with up to 4 inches possible. Check back for updates.

In Carbon County, 1,343 PPL customers were without power, including 117 in East Penn Township; 106 in Franklin Township, 75 in Kidder, Lausanne Township, 40; Lower Towamensing Township, 238;

Mahoning Township, 64; Penn Forest Township, 693, and Towamensing Township, 10.

More than 5,000 customers are without power in Lehigh County, including 1,731 in Washington Township.

More than 2,000 are without power in Schuylkill County, including Ryan Township, 42;

Schuylkill Township, 7, and West Penn Township, 79.

In Monroe County, 2,557 are without power, including 97 in Chestnuthill Township; 111 in Eldred Township and 302 in Polk Township.

In Northampton County, nearly 1,700 are without power in Lehigh Township.
