High winds causing power outages throughout area
High winds are knocking out power to PPL customers throughout the Times News region.
Carbon County has the most outages with 1,453 out. Of those, Mahoning has been hit hard with 1,344 customers out. Other outages are Towamensing Township, 87; Lower Towamensing Township, 11; Palmerton, 10, and Summit Hill borough, 1.
Powers are also reported in Monroe County with 30 in Chestnuthill and 48 in Polk Township.
In Schuylkill County, 16 customers are out in Rush Township. In Northampton County, 17 are out in Lehigh Township.
PPL expects most people to be restored by 11 p.m. Sunday.
The winds are expecting to gust at high as 35 mph through tonight, followed by snow showers on Sunday.

Sunday: Snow showers, mainly before 1 p.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature falling to around 22 by 4 p.m. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 15. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
M.L. King Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 28. West wind around 10 mph.
Monday Night: A chance of snow after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday: A chance of snow, mainly before 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 29. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
