Route 209 between Tamaqua and Coaldale was shut down this morning due to an accident atop the Number 11 Hill.

The crash occurred just after 7 a.m. when a motorist struck black ice on the roadway. The sport utility vehicle rolled coming to rest on its wheels in the south bound lanes.

The crash was reported with injury. Responding were the Coaldale and Lansford fire companies. Tamaqua fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway. Coaldale police are investigating the incident
