The Summit Hill Borough Council this week ratified a new five-year contract for Police Chief Todd Woodward.
The veteran policeman, who has worked for the borough for over 20 years, was initially hired to be the chief on Aug. 23, 2021. At that time, the council approved a three-year contract with a starting salary of $72,572.
Under the terms of the new pact, Woodward will receive a salary of $84,250 in 2024 and will receive a 4% hike annually.
The police chief succeeded Joseph Fittos Jr., who retired in September 2020. At the time of his promotion, Woodward was one of 30 applicants for the chief’s position. The council narrowed that list down to seven and following interviews, opted for the promotion of one of their own.
