Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 10

The Tamaqua boys basketball team and the Palmerton boys wrestling team picked up victories on Wednesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

LLA-Tamaqua

Tamaqua ended Lincoln Leadership Academy’s four-game win streak as the Blue Raiders pulled away in the second half for a 59-46 non-league win.

Noah Mateyak led a foursome of Blue Raiders (7-6 overall) in double figures with a game-high 19 points, while Luke Kane scored 17 points.

Teammates Cooper Ansbach and Connor Dillon chipped in with 11 points apiece.

Carlos Santana paced the Lions (10-2) with 13 points.

Olivia Burke’s 23-point performance helped North Schuylkill run away with a 57-12 Schuylkill League win over visiting Jim Thorpe.

Burke drained 13 of her game-high output in the opening quarter for the Spartans (9-1 overall) as they took a 23-4 lead after eight minutes.

Jaylah Yeakel and Isabella Sully led the way for the Olympians (0-10) with four points each.

The Palmerton heavyweights helped the Bombers earn a 39-30 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

Dillon Anthony (160) and Caleb Gaffney (189) recorded falls for the Bombers (5-7 overall). Stacked between Anthony and Gaffney, Dillon Lombardi added a win by decision.

Matt Gombert (121) and Derek King (145) added early pins for Palmerton.
