Marian inducts 26 students into National Honor Society
Twenty-six seniors and juniors at Marian Catholic High School were inducted into the Robert F. Kennedy Chapter of the National Honor Society during a Mass and ceremony held recently at the diocesan school.
The Mass was co-celebrated by the Rev. Robert George, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill, and chaplain at Marian, and the Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor of St. John XXIII Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
The new inductees are: Seniors Emma Ashfield, Isabella Boyer, Caden Kash, Hannah McGinley, Brenden Mitchell, Anthony Odorizzi and Marcus Rosenstiel; and juniors Kathryn Barron, Tyler Berlanda, Erica Boyle, Derek Dang, Julia Dvorak, Delaney Erickson, Ava Fritz, Michael Gelatko, Julian Hermany, Zachery Holt, Samuel Homyak, Zoe Katona, Caitlyn Kovatch, Devan Lin, Aidan Milkovits, Alizabeth Pikitus, Alyssa Porambo, Connor Rehnert and Mia Rinaldi.
Julia Meiss, a senior and the current president of the chapter, welcomed the new inductees and gave the opening remarks, saying, the National Honor Society is “an organization that recognizes and encourages academic achievement while developing other characteristics such as leadership, service and character, which are all essential to citizens in a democracy.”
She told the inductees that NHS has established a reputation for excellence among administrators, faculty members, students, parents and members of the school community which is the result of years of commitment on the part of everyone involved.
In addition to Meiss, serving as chapter officers for this school year are Morgan Kelly, vice president, Megan Reaman, secretary, and Abigail Kluck, treasurer.
