• State police at the Frackville barracks were called to a property on Red Dale Road, East Brunswick Township, to investigate a report of theft by deception/wire fraud. They said the victim of the theft lost a large sum of money through a bitcoin scam.
• Police were called to a retail theft case at the WalMart store at 35 Plaza Drive, Rush Township (Hometown).
Three unidentified males, one white, one black and one of Asian/Middle Eastern descent, were observed taking $346 worth of merchandise out of the store without paying for it.
• Tamaqua police also charged Aiden Witmer, 21, of Elizabethville, with retail theft after he took a drill set from the M & S Hardware store on Nov. 17.
Police said a video surveillance camera captured footage of Witmer putting the tools into the front of his pants. Images of Witmer were uploaded to the Tamaqua Police Department’s Facebook page, and viewers offered tips to help police identify him.
• Michelle A. Keitsock, 24, of Mahanoy City, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 3:48 p.m. Dec. 24 at the intersection of Summer Valley and Cold Run roads in East Brunswick Township. She and two passengers were uninjured in the incident.
Police said she wad driving a 2012 Ford Fusion east on Summer Valley Road when she failed to negotiate a left turn onto Cold Run Road and the car struck an embankment, coming to rest on the northbound shoulder of the roadway.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
