Coaldale police charged Diondre Hamman, 21, of Coaldale, with striking a police officer and resisting arrest following an incident that began at 9:14 a.m. Dec. 26.
Police went to St. Luke’s - Miners Campus in Coaldale for a report that Hamman had fled the hospital after he was committed on an involuntary 302 warrant.
A short time later, officers found Hamman on West Early Avenue in Coaldale and told him he had to return to the hospital. Police said Hamman ran away.
Coaldale police requested backup from other departments and an officer from the Lansford arrived. The officers found Hamman but he again fled.
The officers caught Hamman who became combative and hit a Coaldale officer several times in the face and chest, causing $105 in damages to the officer’s glasses and cellphone.
Police said Hamman continued to resist arrest. A Lansford officer used his stun gun several times.
Hamman was placed in handcuffs and returned to the hospital on the warrant.
Police charged Hamman with evading arrest or detention on foot; resisting arrest or other law enforcement; harassment/physical strike kick, and criminal mischief.
