2 Schuylkill businesses cited for Pa. liquor law violations

The Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, has cited two Schuylkill County businesses for violations of the state liquor laws.

Sisters of Tamaqua, was cited for failing to keep records on the license premises between Dec. 4, 2022, and Dec. 4, 2023.

The Top Dog Bar and Grill, St. Clair, was cited for numerous violations, including: Possession or operation of gambling devices or paraphernalia, permitting gambling or lotteries, and pool-selling and/or bookmaking on the premises on June 29, Aug. 7, Oct. 21 and 25 of last year.

The LCE bureau also charged the business with failing to maintain complete and truthful records covering the operation of the licensed premises for a period of two years immediately preceding Nov. 28, 2023.

In addition, the bar is charged with transporting malt or brewed beverages without a license on 30 different days between Jan. 10, 2023, and Oct. 2, 2023.

The state says the bar also failed to ensure its board-approved manager completed owner/manager training within the past two years.

All of the charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties between $50-1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The ALJ can also order a suspension or revocation of the business’ licenses, and can order mandated training for the licensees in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being a licensee.
