A longtime solicitor was honored for his dedication to the borough, marking a milestone that not many solicitors reach in today’s world.
On Wednesday, Nesquehoning Borough Council recognized Robert Yurchak for 30 years of serving as the borough’s solicitor.
“During the 30 years, your talents and efforts have contributed significantly to the successful efforts of our borough,” council President David Hawk said. “We take pride in his commitment and we take this moment to thank you for choosing to remain here and serve your community.”
Council presented Yurchak with a plaque that will hang in the borough office.
Hawk said that there is no retirement date on the plaque since Yurchak will continue to serve as the borough solicitor, hopefully for many years to come.
“Thank you and we hope to have you around for a while longer,” Hawk said.
Council also presented Yurchak with a personalized gavel so that he could silence council members during executive sessions when they get heated instead of doing a sports’ “time out” sign.
Yurchak has had a long career, serving as solicitor for not only Nesquehoning, but also Lansford, Coaldale, Kidder Township, Panther Valley School District and Packer Township, to name a few.
