Marion creates Legacy Society

Marian Catholic High School has established the 1954 Legacy Society to honor the commitment of alumni, parents, clergy and friends who have chosen to share their financial achievements with the school through estate and other planned gifts by naming Marian as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

Along with this announcement, comes the news from Marian that five living benefactors have informed Marian that the school is in their estate plans, and eight deceased members included Marian in their estate plans.

“I cannot stress enough my thanks to those who already have considered the future needs of Marian Catholic High School. It is a tremendous legacy you are passing on to others,” said Michael Brennan, Head of School.

“We are so grateful that so many of our supporters, living and deceased, who have chosen to name Marian as a part of their future plans,” said Dr. Erin Marek, director of advancement.

“Each planned gift is a deeply personal decision, and we are truly honored and humbled to be able to welcome 13 new members to the 1954 Legacy Society. Planned giving allows donors to leave their own legacy while securing a bright future for Catholic education at Marian. It is immensely important to our mission and vision for the future.”

The 1954 Legacy Society celebrates donors who support the future of Marian Catholic High School with a gift from their estate or a life income gift. Legacy Society members receive special acknowledgment and an invitation to the Annual Head of School Leadership Society Reception each fall.

“The future of Marian Catholic High School rests with our ability to continue to grow our endowment funds for student financial aid and new programs,” said Larry Furey, Class of 79, chairman of the Advancement Committee.

“Making a planned gift is a wonderful way to show your support and appreciation for Marian and its mission while accommodating your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. There are many options to consider: gifts that cost you nothing during your lifetime, gifts that pay you an income for the rest of your life, ways to make a gift through your retirement plan or with an asset such as real estate, and help you protect your income and assets,” Furey concluded.

The Legacy Society honors the year of the founding of Marian Catholic High School, 1954.
