Walnutport appears intent to update its outdated short-term rental ordinance.
Borough solicitor Michael Corriere revisited the draft ordinance with borough council last week.
“The old one is a little behind the times,” Corriere said. “It upgrades the use to bring it up to the 2020s.”
Borough engineer Jason Newhard said, “it’s something that really isn’t a problem yet.”
Corriere said the zoning would remain R1 and R2, and it would still permit five rental units.
Further, guests can stay for a minimum of three days, and maximum of no more than 14 days a month.
Newhard suggested possibly limiting the number of rentals per month.
Council then instructed Corriere to make changes for its review.
Last month, Corriere told council that he finished a draft of the short-term rental ordinance.
He said the previous one had been from the early 1980s.
