Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening service and no Wednesday prayer meeting this week.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

A candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 4 p.m.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Dec. 14 with 16 members in attendance. The President opened the meeting with the reading “December.”

Mary Reed, Ruth Betz, MaryAnn Laughlin, Rose Mikulski and Jean Daubert were all added to the sick list. The group was given advice on how to avoid scams that are targeting seniors. There will be no meeting on Thursday, Dec. 28.

The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on Dec. 12 for their Christmas party at Capriotti’s, McAdoo. There were 34 members in attendance. President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the reading “Christmas Joy.”

Lorraine Lupcho, Mary Reed and Ruth Betz were added to the sick list. The group thanked everyone who contributed to make the party a success. Each member received a stocking of Christmas items. Members made stockings and place mats for all.

The next meeting will be Jan. 9 and members are reminded to bring a boxed lunch until further notice. Everyone was wished a Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year.

The group meets at 1 p.m. at Christ Church, Barnesville the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Free Diaper Ministry

Diaper Depot, the free diaper ministry at Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua, is accepting new clients for its Jan. 20 distribution. You must be a resident of the Tamaqua Area School District and make a request at www.ziontamaqua.com by Dec. 24 You will be given an appointment time for the Jan. 20 distribution.

The first time you pick up diapers, you must present a birth certificate for the child or children and some type of proof of residence. Diapers are available for children up to age 4 sizes NB to 6 and pull-ups 2T-3T and 3T-4T.

Diaper Depot is a community pantry of the Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank. Zion is located at the corner of Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets in Tamaqua.
