State police at Frackville
State police at Frackville responded to the following incidents:
• A 43-year-old Hazleton woman is facing charges of retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Walmart store, Plaza Drive, Rush Township (Hometown), at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16.
Police said store asset protection personnel told them the woman “under-rang” $105.05 worth of items while check out. Police said the woman left the store before their arrival but she provided store personnel her information and was later taken into custody at her home by police.
Rubi Aracena Rodriguez, 19, of Hazleton, was also cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Walmart store, Plaza Drive, Rush Township (Hometown), at 8:53 p.m. Dec. 14.
Police said a witness observed her “under-ringing” $82.59 worth of items, after which time she was taken into custody and processed accordingly.
• Police were called to 1201 Keystone Boulevard, Cass Township, to investigate the theft of a trailer.
The owner is NFI Industries, Pottsville. Police said the theft occurred between May 1 and Aug. 31.
• Police said an arrest warrant was issued against Robert Marx, 54, of Cumbola, after they were called to a residence on Coal Street in Blythe Township at 2:32 p.m. Nov. 29.
A 52-year-old woman from Cumbola told police Marx violated a Protection From Abuse order that is in effect against him in her behalf.
• Joseph Chamoun, 66, of Tuscarora, was charged by police with harassment by physical contact after they were called to a disturbance at 12:59 a.m. Dec. 11 to Walnut Street in Schuylkill Township.
Police said he and a 58-year-old man, also from Tuscarora, had an argument over a property dispute. Chamoun attempted to hit the victim with a pair of pliers.
• Police said someone stole a $1,200 motorized wheelchair from a residence in Girardville between Sept. 11 and 12.
The theft was reported last week by a 52-year-old Girardville man who said the red and black Buzz Around LT wheelchair was taken from in front of his residence on North John Street.
Police said the theft was reported late because the man was told by his insurance company that the theft needed to be reported to authorities.
• Amaury Bastardo Batista, 47, of Shenandoah, is facing charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief after a road-rage incident turned into a fight at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at the intersection of Route 54 and Ellen Gowan Road in Mahanoy Township.
Police said he and a 47-year-old male were engaged in an altercation where Batista would not allow the victim to pass him in a passing zone on the roadway. Police said the two men pulled over their 2001 Toyota and 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles and a verbal argument ensued.
They said Batista made gestures of wanting to fight and then went back to his vehicle and grabbed a machete, using it to strike the roof of the victim’s Tahoe before entering his Toyota and leaving the scene.
