Slatington adds full-time police officer

Slatington Borough has a new full-time police officer.

The council approved hiring Aaron Radtke during a special meeting Monday night.

With family and friends looking on, Radtke was sworn in by Slatington Mayor Jeralyn Schoch and given his police badge by Slatington Police Chief Greg Winokur, who joined the department in February.

“I’m very excited to have another full-time officer on the force. We need another guy,” Schoch said. “Our guys have done an extremely wonderful job over the last two years. It’s good that we are adding an officer to help with the duties.”

Schoch has been an advocate for hiring more police officers for the borough. The police force includes the chief, a sergeant and four full-time officers. Radtke now makes it five.
