Loud noise coming from a business in downtown Lehighton has raised the ire of one borough resident.
The man, who resides on North Second Street, approached borough council last week to ask what can be done.
He said he hears “thumping music” and added “it’s right in my backyard.”
He asked council if there’s a noise ordinance because the level of noise coming from the business “is ridiculous.”
It was noted that the business has a liquor license.
Borough Mayor Clark Ritter attempted to address the man’s concerns.
“Police are aware of it, the LCB (Liquor Control Board) are aware of it,” Ritter said.
Ritter added that to have a violation by noise, it has to be measured by a decibel meter.
The resident said he understood, but added the decibel level coming from the business has to be over the allowable level.
“When you hear a noise, instead of waiting until the meeting tonight, just call us,” borough police Chief Troy Abelovsky said.
