Summit Hill
Historical society
The Summit Hill Historical Society will present a Christmas concert by Free Range Folk on Dec. 13.
The museum will open at 6 p.m. for browsing and refreshments. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.
Nesquehoning
Hero banners
The Nesquehoning Veterans Banner program is now open for 2024.
If you would like to purchase a banner, applications are available at the VFW Post Home at 300 E. Center St.
Also if you purchased a banner to be displayed in 2021, 22 and 23 renewal applications were mailed to the sponsor of the banner and the retired banner may be picked up at the post home.
The deadline to purchase a new banner or renewal is Jan. 12, 2024.

Senior Center
The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Dec. 12-15 is:
Tuesday: Glazed Pork, Mashed Potatoes, Beets, Cookie or Ham and Swiss Sandwich
Wednesday: Breaded Fish, Mac and Cheese with Stewed Tomatoes, Wax Beans, Pineapples or Chicken Caesar salad
Thursday: Chicken Kiev, Parslied Potatoes, Brussels sprouts, Pudding or Cuban Sandwich
Friday: Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes, Glazed Carrots, Cinnamon Apples or Salad with Chicken
The center also has announced upcoming events.
Birthday Bingo on Dec. 12 at 10:45 a.m.; Crafts on Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m.; Sunshine Meeting on Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. followed by Po-Keeno at 11 a.m.; Christmas Party on Dec. 15 at 10:30 a.m.
Horse Racing on Dec. 18 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on Dec. 19 at 10:45 a.m.; Game Day on Dec. 20 at 10 a.m.; Po-Keeno on Dec. 21 at 11 a.m.; Movie and Popcorn on Dec. 22 at 10 a.m.
New members are welcome.
