The Tamaqua Area Middle School Music Department will present its annual Holiday Music Program at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium.
The concert feature performances by the middle school sixth grade band and the middle school choruses.
The band, under the direction of Marsha Rodgers, will open the concert with “Gingerbread Men on Parade” by Len Orcino. They will then play “St. Nick Salsa” by Michael Story followed by “Click, Click, Click” arranged by Benjamin Hanby. The band will close the first half of the program with “Invasion of the Christmas Crabs” by Victor Lopez.
The middle school general chorus composed of students in sixth to eighth grades will begin the second half of the evening’s program with “Here We Come A Caroling” arranged by Michael Scott. The concert continues with “That’s Christmas to Me” by Michael Brymer. “A Candle in the Window” by Sally Albrech is the next selection. The choir’s final selection will be the holiday classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Michael Blaine.
The middle school seventh and eighth grade select chorus will close the program with “Carol of the Star” by Donald Moore. Their second selection is “In the Bleak Midwinter” arranged by Audrey Snyder. “Last Christmas” by pop star George Michael is the next. The concert will close with “Jazzy Saint Nick” by Russell Robinson.
Both middle school choirs are under the direction of John D. Buglio. The concert is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
