The Pleasant Valley School Board held their reorganization meeting Thursday night prior to their regular meeting.
Newly elected director John Gesiskie nominated Michael Galler for president. Galler quickly jumped in to decline the nomination. He said his work schedule prevents him from taking on the responsibility. Gesiskie then nominated Norman Burger, who declined; Melanie Zipp, who declined; and Diane Serfass, who declined, so he nominated himself.
Galler nominated Susan Kresge. Kresge has served as the president of the school board for the last four years.
The school board directors voted and the majority were in favor of Kresge for president. Kresge abstained from voting.
Michael Galler accepted the nomination for vice president, which he has held for the last four years. He was unanimously approved for the position.
Kresge then appointed directors to various committees. Michael Galler was appointed to the MCTI Joint Operating committee for a three-year term. All directors were listed as alternates to this committee. And Diane Serfass was appointed as the MCTI Authority Representative for a five-year term.
Melanie Zipp was appointed as the liaison for the Pennsylvania School Board Authority, and Zipp and Diane Serfass were appointed as voting delegates to the PSBA. Each appointee had the opportunity to decline their positions.
“I appreciate everybody who has stepped up to take positions, and accurately execute the task,” Burger said.
Galler added, “I want to welcome back our three board members and new members. Welcome aboard.”
Kresge also welcomed the new board members: Gesiskie, Ryan O’Keefe and Matthew Walters.
“I look forward to working with you,” she said.
