A Deer Lake woman and her husband attended a holiday party last week at The White House at the invitation of President George W. Bush.

Gretchen Sterns, an attorney with the Pottsville law firm of Cerullo, Datte and Wallbillich, and her husband, Joseph, received the invitation two weeks ago and made the three-hour trip to Washington to attend the White House Christmas Party.

Gretchen, 26, is the chairperson of the Schuylkill County Young Republicans and chaired the 72-hour task force in the county, the last minute push to re-elect the president in the days leading to the Nov. 2 election. She is the former Gretchen Coles, daughter of Gary and Deborah Coles.
