A Luzerne County man died after his vehicle went off Interstate 80 Tuesday night in Kidder Township, according to state police at Fern Ridge.

Police said that Charles J. Manfre, 71, of Wilkes-Barre went off the highway at mile marker 281.8 in a 2021 Lexus, going down a steep embankment in the center median. He died at the scene.

The crash was reported at 8:16 p.m.

Assisting on scene were troopers Leo Nita, Gary Fedorczyk, Craig Dadurka, Cpl. Daniel Coates of Troop N, FSU, and Cpl. Lare, Lake Harmony Fire Company, Lake Harmony Rescue Squad, Albrightsville Fire Company, the Carbon County Coroner, and Carbon County PennDOT.

Carbon County Coroner Bob Miller said an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Police are investigating.
