Jeremy Glaush and Heather Neff will lead Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors into 2024 as president and vice president following Monday night’s reorganization meeting.
Both were unanimous choices and the only ones to receive nominations for the positions.
“I am happy to be here representing the district,” Glaush said. “I feel what we do is very important and hope we continue the great work we have started.”
Glaush has been president since October, when he took over for Joy Beers, who stepped down from that role but remained on the board.
The board also welcomed two new directors to the fold in Sean Gleaves and Zac Hunter.
Gleaves and Hunter won four-year seats in the 2023 municipal election along with incumbents Glaush, Neff and April Walker. Richard Beltz was re-elected to a two-year term.
“I think the consistency among the board is a great thing,” Superintendent Dr. Christina Fish said. ”Having a group of seven who have been here together for a while will help keep things very productive.”
In other appointments, Neff will take a three-year term as the district’s representative on the Carbon Career and Technical Institute’s joint operating committee. Glaush, meanwhile, will stay on as Lehighton’s Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit representative with another two-year term.
Kerry Sittler was unanimously appointed to a two-year term as the board’s representative to the Lehighton Area Memorial Library.
In other business Monday, the district hired Christine Rosenberger as a high school English Language Arts teacher, effective Jan. 29, at a salary of $82,235.
