Lehighton Borough Police Department reported on the following incidents:
• At 12:54 a.m. Oct. 28, police were dispatched to the 200 block of South Ninth Street for a motor vehicle crash with injuries.
Police said a red Toyota Prius being operated by a 31-year-old man had struck a black Ford EcoSport that was legally parked, causing severe damage to both vehicles.
Police determined the 31-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were given. Charges are pending.
• At around 8 a.m. Nov. 16, police were dispatched to the 400 block of North First Street for an erratic driver complaint. The caller reported the driver to be “all over the road,” nearly driving on sidewalks and striking parked vehicles. The vehicle was described to be a gray Dodge pickup truck with tinted windows, which was located shortly thereafter by responding police. In making contact with the driver, indicators commonly associated with impairment were observed. The driver further consented to a search of his vehicle, where drug paraphernalia was located. After being taken into custody, the driver produced several glassine bags possessing light narcotic powder consistent with that of heroin and/or fentanyl, which he had stored in his shoe. The man was transported to the Lehighton Borough Police Department where a drug influence evaluation was conducted. At its conclusion, the man was asked to submit to a blood draw. He consented, and charges are pending the results of this blood test.
