Commercial bus one of four vehicles in turnpike crash

A commercial bus with 24 passengers from New York on it was one of four vehicles involved in a crash at 3:46 p.m. Nov. 10 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

State police at the Pocono barracks said two people in one of the vehicles were injured. No one on the bus was hurt.

The crash happened at mile marker 94.6, about 395 feet east of the Pocono Interchange.

They said a 2014 Toyota Avalon operated by Abdullatif A. Hashim, 57, of Philadelphia, was traveling northbound in the left lane of travel when the driver realized he inadvertently passed the exit ramp to the interchange. Police said witnesses told them they observed the Avalon “attempting to go in reverse” on the roadway. Police said Hashim brought the vehicle to a complete stop, after which time it was struck by a 2022 Toyota Camry operated by Angela E. Foster, 31, of Archbald.

Police said the Camry ricocheted into the right lane where a “chain reaction” crash occurred with a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Robert K. Farrell, 59, of Pittston, and a 2004 Prevost Tradewinds coach operated by MaryJo Tillotson, 54, of Glen Aubrey, New York.

Police said three of the vehicles had heavy damages and were towed from the scene.

They said Hashim was injured but refused a medical transport while a passenger with him, Geenat Abdulrahman, 51, of Sheffield, was transported to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Police said Hasim was cited for the crash.
