State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on the following:
• Police responded to a report of a retail theft at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Dollar General store, 3229 Route 115, Chestnuthill Township.
They were told two white, non-Hispanic females entered the store between 4:30 and 5:15 and filled a grocery cart with numerous items. Store personnel said they scanned $116.51 worth of items while also placing numerous unscanned items ton the side and left the store without purchasing them.
• Police said a resident off Sugar Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township, is the victim of a theft that happened via the theft by deception concept.
They said the victim received a voicemail message in regards to winning a Publishers Clearing House prize. The caller advised the victim to acquire a $500 debit card to pay for the processing of the prize.
They said the victim bought the card and gave the unknown caller the numbers on it, losing the money on the American Express gift card.
The victim contacted Publishers Clearing House and was told it never requests money from prize winners.
