Tamaqua girl, 13, charged with stealing flavored vodka

A 13 year-old Tamaqua girl was cited for retail theft after she stole a bottle of liquor from the Fine Wine & Good Spirits store on Cedar Street, Tamaqua police said.

According to police, a store manager said two juveniles entered the store at 7:18 p.m. Nov. 18, and one asked to use the restroom. When an employee walked back to unlock the restroom door, the other juvenile grabbed a bottle of Svedka vodka strawberry lemonade and fled the store.

Police said the employee chased the girl and told her to return the bottle or he would call the police. At that point, the girl threw the bottle into a dumpster and ran away. Police said the bottle was recovered and undamaged, but can no longer be sold.

The item is valued at $15.59.

Police contacted the girl’s parents and told them that their daughter would be cited.
