ON THIS DATE NOVEMBER 21, 1983

Two Tamaqua men were honored by the Boy Scouts of America with scouting’s highest acknowledgment of service at the council level on Saturday.

The Silver Beaver Award, presented at the Hawk Mountain Council recognition dinner held at Albright College, was given to Douglas W. Miller, 117 Penn St., scoutmaster of Troop 76 of Zion Lutheran Church, and Junior F. Zehner, 34 Market St., assistant scoutmaster of Troop 76.

The awards were presented by Henry L. Robidoux, vice president of the Metropolitan Edison Co. and chairman of the Silver Beaver Selection Committee.
