November 21, 1962 - Tamaqua’s George Barron is named to the United Press International All-Star First Team, while Coaldale’s Eddie Kassak receives Second Team honors. Selected as a fullback, Barron finished his season with 1,273 yards rushing on 145 carries. Kassak, with one game still to play, compiled 109 points and earns his spot on the team at halfback. Other area players to gain honorable mention status include Tamaqua’s Marc Rovner, Marian’s Bill Donovan, Palmerton’s Mike Hudock and Billy Heydt, and Lehighton’s Denny Haldeman.
