Lehigh County Crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported on recent incidents:

• Hannah Getter, 28, of Schnecksville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police were called to a crash at 12:54 a.m. Sept. 10 at the intersection of Sand Spring Road and Park View Drive in North Whitehall Township.

Police said she was driving a 2012 Subaru Forester that crashed.

• Rafael E. Vargas, 56, of Allentown, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:29 a.m. Oct. 29 on Route 873 in Washington Township.

Police said he was driving a 2003 Honda Pilot northbound and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway due to speed and the wet roadway. The car traveled across the oncoming lane, striking a utility pole before spinning counterclockwise and coming to rest blocking both lanes of travel.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Fogelsville barracks

• Edgar Frias Aquino, 30, of Hazleton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 3:53 a.m. Oct. 30 on Route 309 in Lynn Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2020 BMW northbound when it began to hydroplane due to wet conditions. Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the roadway and struck a guide rail. It continued off the roadway and collided into a tree before coming to a halt.

Police said the car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

• A 17-year-old New Tripoli girl was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 6:36 a.m. Nov. 9 on Holbens Valley Road in Weisenberg Township.

Police said she was driving a 2014 Ford Focus eastbound at a high rate of speed when she lost control on a left curve. Police said the car struck the guide rail off the southern shoulder of the road.

The driver was uninjured, police said. The Focus needed to be towed from the scene.

• Cale T. Staruch, 29, of Lansford, was cited after a crash at 3:35 p.m. Oct. 27 on Interstate 78 in Upper Macungie Township.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that was involved in the crash with a 1999 Mercury Sable operated by Joseph A. Kratohwill, 24, of Pennsburg.

Police said Staruch was uninjured. Kratohwill sustained suspected minor injuries and was treated at the scene by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Corps but not transported to a medical facility.
