Chorale embarks on 39th year of holiday music

The Bach and Handel Chorale of Jim Thorpe, which rehearses at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the Heights, is preparing for its 39th season.

“We are embarking on our 39th year as a group that has dedicated its entire being toward promoting the works of Bach, Handel, and other masters,” Randall D. Perry, founder and director, said. “Our members come from all walks of life and all ages, sharing their love of the music of these masters and the joy of singing choral music.”

In addition to some traditional hymns and carols, the Christmas concerts will feature music from Douglas E. Wagner, Dale Warland, Benjamin Harlan, John Rutter, Randall D. Perry, Jay Althouse, Gordon Young; and, of course, Johann Sebastian Bach and George Fridric Handel. The chorale will also sing a special Ukrainian Carol, “Christmas Bells.”

The three Christmas concerts are:

• 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, Sat., St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 526 North St., Jim Thorpe.

• 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Tannersville.

• 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, St. Paul’s UCC, 1249 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown.
