Rep. James A. Goodman of Mahanoy City dropped a political bombshell on northern Schuylkill County yesterday when he announced he would not seek an eighth term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Goodman is a Democrat and would have to run in 1980. In announcing his decision to not seek another term, the legislator said it was his intention for some time to pursue other interests and to have more family time.

Goodman said he would be endorsing Edward J. Lucyk, also of Mahanoy City, who has been his executive assistant and who has served as administrator of the Mahanoy City Medical Center.
