A Schuylkill County judge has denied a Tamaqua woman’s request to have trespassing charges dismissed.
Judge James P. Goodman on Wednesday dismissed Judith A. Vacula’s request.
Tamaqua Police Officer Karl L. Harig on Oct. 12 filed charges of defiant trespass against Vacula, 52, for an incident that happened Sept. 9.
Tamaqua District Judge Stephen J. Bayer set bail at $10,000 unsecured, meaning Vacula didn’t have to post bond.
Vacula filed her request for dismissal on Nov. 2.
According to court documents, Vacula entered an apartment building at 237, 239, and 241 E. Broad St., after being barred from entering the property by a county court judge. Vacula had been jailed last year for the same offenses.
Police in August had received reports of Vacula going in and out of the building, and a “condemned” sign was covered by another sign.
Police on Aug. 30 told Vacula the building did not belong to her after she called them to report a theft from it.
On Sept. 12, she called police to report that signs had been stolen from the property.
Vacula at the time was on probation as part of her 2022 sentence for trespassing at the property.
Schuylkill County online property records show Vacula does not own the parcel in question.
