State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks have released the following reports of calls to which police responded recently:

• Police said the driver of a 2018 Dodge Durango that crashed at 1:11 a.m. Oct. 2 at the intersection of Twin Pine and Setzer roads in Hamilton Township was charged with driving under the influence.

Police said the vehicle was southbound when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and drove off the right shoulder of the road into a ditch, striking a tree.

Police said the driver, who was also cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, was uninjured.

• Wilfredo Dones, 59, of Albrightsville, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:09 a.m. Oct. 3 at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Twin Lake Road in Penn Forest Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. Anthony M. Cola, also of Albrightsville, the driver of a 2017 Toyota RAV4 that was involved in the incident, was uninjured.

Police did not provide the details of the incident except to say Dones was cited for a stop signs and yield signs violation.

• Police said the driver of a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer that crashed at 8:44 p.m. Oct. 5 on Stony Mountain Road in Penn Forest Township fled the scene.

They said the driver failed to negotiate a left curve in the road and the vehicle exited the road, striking a sign, ditch and large cement barrier, knocking over the barrier and then striking a metal fence.

The car was towed from the scene.

• Rafael Espinal, 34, of the Bronx, New York, was uninjured when a 2019 Toyota Camry he was driving crashed at 9 a.m. Oct. 7 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said he was eastbound when the vehicle lost traction due to rain and wet conditions. It traveled down an embankment and sustained disabling damages that required it to be from the scene.

• A 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee was towed from the scene of a crash at 9:56 a.m. Oct. 7 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said Jason E. Nabba, 36, of Wayne, New Jersey, was driving the vehicle that went out of control due to wet conditions, striking a guide rail on the left shoulder of the road.

• Injuries were averted in a mishap at 3:24 p.m. Oct. 7 at the intersection of Route 115 and Rinker Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

It happened when traffic came to a sudden stop on Route 115 and a vehicle driven by William F. Shafer, 61, of Blakeslee, veered to the right to avoid striking a vehicle. They said a vehicle operated by Matthew W. Lane, 35, of East Greenville, was unable to stop and traveled into the northbound lane, striking a vehicle driven by Rasha A. Elsaadi, 33, of Effort, the Shafer vehicle and a fourth vehicle.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle mishap at 1:14 p.m. Oct. 9 on Bartonsville Woods Road in Jackson Township.

Police said it involved a 2018 Ford Escape driven by Larry L. Parry, 68, of Stroudsburg, and a 2010 Nissan Titan operated by Kathleen R. Beatty, 29, also of Stroudsburg. Police did not provide the details of the incident.

• Two drivers were injured in a mishap at 12:13 p.m. Oct. 11 at the intersection of Sand Spring Road and Route 534 in Kidder Township.

Treated by personnel from the Lake Harmony Rescue Squad and Ambulance Corps, but not transported to a medical facility, were John J. Nelka, 79, of Columbia, Maryland, and Arthur Albert Marin, 56, of East Stroudsburg.

Police did not provide the details of the incident.

• Two vehicles were towed from the scene of a three-vehicle incident at 3:26 p.m. Oct. 4 on Route 715 in Jackson Township.

Police said a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy from Blakeslee was westbound when it struck a vehicle operated by Andrea K. Calvert, 69, of Saylorsburg, which then struck a third vehicle.

Neither driver was injured but a passenger in Calvert’s vehicle, Rose A. Ciccarelli, 90, of Saylorsburg, sustained possible injuries and was transported by personnel from the American Patient Transport Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Stroudsburg, police said.

Two of the vehicles were towed from the scene.
