A Monroe County man has been charged with corruption of minors following an online sting.
On Sept. 19, Pocono Mountain Regional police were alerted to a video posted online by LC Predator Catcher’s Facebook account.
LC Predator Catcher is non-governmental and conducts online stings of suspected child predators.
The video depicts a conversation between Robert M. McMahon, 60, of Mount Pocono, and LC Predator Catcher regarding the online solicitation of a 15-year-old for sexual activity by McMahon.
This resulted in the initiation of a criminal investigation by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.
LC Predators uses a fictitious Grindr account, and through this account, LC Predators were contacted by McMahon.
Predator Catchers, posing as a juvenile, advised McMahon that they were 15 years old. McMahon advised that he was 50.
McMahon provided his address so the two could meet and engage in sexual activity.
As part of the investigation, detectives received the full chat logs and video captured by LC Predators Catchers.
Upon review, detectives noted a sexually charged text conversation between McMahon and who he believed to be a 15-year-old boy.
As part of the investigation, a search warrant was served at McMahon’s home in the 100 block of Fairview Avenue, where drug paraphernalia was found.
McMahon was charged with corruption of minors; criminal use of a communication facility; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An arrest warrant was issued. McMahon turned himself into authorities, and was arraigned by District Magistrate Phillip Riley.
McMahon is currently free in lieu of $10,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Jan. 4 before Riley.
