State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks released details on recent incidents:

• A 34-year-old East Stroudsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by police at 12:57 a.m. Oct. 30.

They stopped him in a 2007 Dodge Chrysler for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at the intersection of Route 209 ad Greenview Drive in Hamilton Township.

• Amy Steigerwalt, 36, of Lehighton, was charged with retail theft (shoplifting) after state police were called at 3:34 p.m. Sept. 7 to the Dollar General Store, 1424 Route 903, Penn Forest Township. Police said she removed a $20 bluetooth speaker from the store.

• A 51-year-old Lehighton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by police at 9:13 p.m. Oct. 31.

They stopped him in a 2015 Dodge Dakota for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at the intersection of Route 248 and Lehigh Drive in Bowmanstown.

• Police said a driver is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop they made at 2:38 a.m. Oct. 31 on Princeton Avenue in Palmerton. The stop was made because the driver, who they did not identify, nor did they release his residence, had committed multiple Title 75 offenses, police said.

• A 58-year-old Danielsville man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop police conducted at 9:22 a.m. Oct. 28 at the intersection of Riverview and Lehigh drives in Lehigh Township.

Police said they stopped him in a 2004 Saturn, after which time police learned there is also an active warrant out against him.

• Police responded to a theft incident at 3:17 p.m. Oct. 27 at 236 Catalpa Drive, Polk Township.

They said the woman, a 14-year-old girl from Effort, reported her Apple Air Pods valued at $200 were stolen. Police said the woman declined prosecution after she got the air pods back.

• Police said a 24-year-old Walnutport man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after they responded to a crash at 10:43 p.m. Oct. 18.

It happened at the intersection of Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East and Gilbert’s Hill Road in Mahoning Township when the man was driving a 2003 Mazda 6 that crashed.

• Police were summoned to a retail theft shoplifting incident reported at 2:47 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Dollar General Store, Interchange Road, Towamensing Township.

Police said employees of the store found opened/empty items in the ceiling tiles of the restroom. They included phone chargers worth $10, police said.

It is believed the suspect left the scene in a 2013 Ford F-150, they said.

• A 40-year-old Effort man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop made by state police at the Lehighton barracks.

Police stopped him in a 2007 Toyota Prius for Motor Vehicle Code violations at 2:44 a.m. Oct. 27 at the intersection of Route 115 and Green Mountain Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

•Marianna Stelmach, 81, of Kunkletown, was cited after a crash at 12:03 p.m. Oct. 28 on Interchange Road in Polk Township.

Police said she was driving a 2000 Mercedes-Benz northbound on the Silver Springs Boulevard when she turned right onto Route 209 before waiting for clearance of traffic. The Mercedes was struck by a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Stephanie A. Rodgers, 44, of Saylorsburg, who was southbound on Route 209 at the time. No one was injured in the incident.

Police were assisted at the scene by a local towing service.
