Weatherly Halloween Parade lists winners
The Weatherly Area Community Chest’s annual Halloween Parade was held Oct. 28.
About 84 people participated in the event as well as six floats, the Weatherly Police, Citizens Fire Co. #1, L & L Fire Company, Carbon County Republican Committee and a slew of motorcyclists.
Categories and winners were as follows:
• Pre-School: 1. Oliver Ormiston as Jack skeleton.
• Groups: 1. Kenny, Crystal, Maverick and Moxie Minnick, Little Shop of Horrors; 2. Jeremy. Rachel, Kaden and Cassidy Witner, Addams Family; 3. Abby Hernandez, President and Bodyguards; 4. Cheyenne Harker, Hailey O’Donnell and Faith Feaster, The Sanderson Sisters of Hocus Pocus; 5. Laura, Jay and Keri, Three Blind Mice.
• Large Floats: 1. Jr. Girl Scouts Troop 34320, Nightmare Before Xmas; 2. Girls Scouts Troop 32932, Kidz Bop; 3. Charley Pierce, Pennywise the Clown and Georgie; 4. Weatherly Area Museum, ghost train.
• Small Floats: 1. Addison Brady, chicken coup; 2. Adam, Jamie and Addison Ridgdell, CoComelon, the wheels on the bus; 3. Lucas Yanac, sports car Mickey.
• Ugliest / Scariest: 1. Luke Dion, fish skull; 2. Jeff Phillips, pumpkin man; 3. Carter Minnick, Jason, Friday the 13th; 4. Colton DeLauretis, clown and 5. Jayden Lukasienski, black skeleton.
• Prettiest / Cutest: 1. Emerson Eroh, peacock; 2. Slylah Dennis, Barbie; 3. Theresa Howey, Minnie Mouse; 4. Jasmine Hall, baby unicorn, 5. Cora Feaster, Barbie cowgirl.
• Funniest: 1. Madison Sipler, Nightmare before Xmas Mayor; 2. Ethan Barilla, alien; 3. Theo Zink, Chef Curry; 4, Brandon Antolock, Among Us character 5. Andy and Xander vonFrish, golfer and caddie.
• Most Original: 1. Maddie Zink, purple Play-Doh; 2. Cara Clarke, watermelon; 3. Mackenzie Clabia, Wednesday Addams; 4. Ken Walters, North Pole conductor; 5. Landon Frehurfer, Naruto.
The parade’s Best of Show was awarded to the combo floats of the WASD prekindergarten class and the Weatherly Area Community Library as “Sweet as can BEE,” promoting kindness.
Besides the monetary awards given to the big winners, all participants were given a dollar, a bag of assorted candy and a drink after the parade at Eurana Park.
Judges this year were Christie Clarke, Judy Desrosiers, Georgia Farrow, Libby Faust, Sarah Hamm, Beverly Moser, Lori O’Donnell and Donna Thomas. Community Chest banner holders were Cara Clarke and Brooke Cox. The Community Chest parade chairperson is Mary Rose Minnick.
The Weatherly Area Community Chest appreciates all those who entered and joined in on the fun, as well as those who performed the hard task of judging, as there were so many great entries.
Special recognition goes out to Borough Manager Harold Pudliner, the Weatherly Police Department, Park Manager John Furmanchin, WAHS band director Dan Derflinger and Band, the Citizens #1.
Also, the L & L Fire Departments, Tim Williams, Dennis Schoch and WAHS teacher Shane Moran with his students Juiiette Bartel, Milana Grier, Kiley Holman, Grace Portell, Kelly Reiner, Rachael Rosenlund, Ava Sahaida, Abby Weston and Aisha Zuberi of the Interact Club for registering the participants.
