Towamensing Township supervisors agreed Thursday to increase garbage bills for next year.
Bills will include a 25-cent per yard increase for commercial accounts.
Residential bills will increase from $2.25 to $2.50 a month.
There is no increase for nonprofits, social clubs and churches.
A letter for the library fund will be inserted with garbage invoices.
In old business, the fire company loan agreement was given to the fire company for approval. The fire company had 3 calls in the month, 90 for the year.
Discussion was held about the enforcement of the Khaler verdict regarding a zoning ordinance. The “blighted property” is on Snyder Lane. There had already been a $20,000 judgment against the property and another $34,000 judgment occurred.
If the owners did not take care of the issue by Nov. 3 the township has the authority to take care of it.
The Historical Commission report included that it hopes to wrap up work on the south side of the building by the end of the month. Windows and shutters have been painted and two windows need to be replaced. A handicap entrance may be built.
The roadmaster said the department has been cutting brush and trees and getting trucks ready for snow removal.
There was an executive session to discuss a pending legal matter.
The next supervisors meeting is at 7 p.m. Dec. 7.
