Clamtown Scout Kuhn earns high rank of Eagle
Tony Kuhn, of Clamtown Troop 755 in New Ringgold, received the rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor held on Oct. 14 at his family farm in Tamaqua.
Since joining scouting in 2011, Tony has held numerous leadership positions within the troop, including Chaplain Aide, Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader. He has earned a variety of merit badges such as welding, shotgun shooting, communications, cooking, and wilderness survival.
To date, he has earned 27 merit badges, five of which will allow him to earn his bronze palm.
Tony’s Eagle Scout Project involved the restoration of a retired mail deposit box for depositing retired U.S. flags. This involved repainting and redesigning the outside of the box, adding a concrete base, and preparing the location at the West Penn Fire Company.
Schuylkill County commissioner Gary Hess and representatives from the Marine Corps League were in attendance to personally honor Tony with proclamations, certificates, and words of acclamation.
In addition, Tony received dozens of congratulatory letters and certificates sent by other government departments and officials, local agencies and other dignitaries who were unable to attend.
Tony is a senior at Ephrata High School in Ephrata.
He is enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center and enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time.
After graduation, Tony plans to become a CDL truck driver and one day own his own trucking company.
Tony is the son of Dan and Amanda Stahley of Tamaqua and Barry and Delinda Kuhn of Ephrata. He also has three sisters - Kaylee, Lenah, and Dellah.
At the court of honor, Tony thanked his fellow scouts and family, and presented Damon Krall and Blake Tharp with the scouting “mentor” pin for their involvement throughout his scouting career.
