I write in support of Magisterial District Judge candidate Billy O’Gurek. I am Tony Harvilla, retired Carbon County Sheriff. Prior to my election to sheriff in 2015, I was employed for 34 years in the federal courts as the Chief U.S. Probation Officer in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and in Carbon County as the Chief Adult Probation Officer. Throughout my career, I became acquainted with many judges. I had the opportunity to observe and admire their fine intellect, dedicated public service, judicial temperament and overall fairness in deciding cases. These are the same qualities I see in Billy O’Gurek. I have known Billy for many years. He has always shown his ability to evaluate a problem, find the key factors that need to be addressed, and suggest a solution that takes into account the positions of those involved. This is the essence of being a qualified and impartial judge.
Billy is certified by the Judicial Election Board in Pennsylvania. He is distinguished in his current employment with the Pennsylvania Auditor General’s Office. I have also observed Billy’s volunteer activities in the community where he displays his vigor and “can do” attitude in every undertaking. He is a true believer in his quest to make our area a better place in which to live.
I always place great emphasis on candidates who return to their roots after college and do their best to enhance the community. Billy has done that and I admire him for it! Magisterial District #56-3-03 is fortunate to have a candidate of Billy O’Gurek’s caliber vying for office and will be well served by his election. I stand with Billy O’Gurek as the best candidate for Magisterial District Judge and I invite all to join me in supporting his candidacy.
Sincerely,
Tony Harvilla
