Hometown Fire Co. No. 1 Chief Barry Messerschmidt commended Rush Township Police Chief Rick Weaver for helping to save a resident’s life.

The man, Messerschmidt said, became trapped under a tree that he was cutting recently on Bernhard Road.

When Weaver arrived, Messerschmidt said he cut the tree to relieve pressure on the man’s chest. Because of the action, the man was able to breathe again.
